He is president of The Outdoor Kind, LLC, a company founded specifically to conduct outdoors safety-education outreach and raise funds for rural and wilderness first responders. He organized the 2018 Yukon Journey Charitable Canoe and Kayak Expedition, and will return to the historic river with a focus on student education in summer 2020.

 Real-World Safety: A Panel Discussion
BWCA - main floor Sun 10:30am-11:15am

There's plenty of information on social media about paddling and camping. Unfortunately, a lot of it is wrong, and potentially dangerous. That's why this panel, focusing on real-world safety, is so valuable. Longtime paddlers, outdoorsmen, and panelists Cliff Jacobson, Kevin Callan and moderator/panelist John Van Barriger will cover issues that matter to newbies and veterans alike. In addition to topics of their own suggestion, the group will field questions submitted by email to "info@theoutdoorkind.org" and from the Canoecopia audience. Learn "just the facts" from those who know!
